Waterbury Schools Competed in an Energizing Robotics Competition This Weekend

 

Kennedy High School Received Highest Rookie Seed and Rookie Inspiration Award

WATERBURY- On March 11-12, 2023, Crosby, Kennedy, and Wilby High School competed at the New England First Robotics Competition Qualifier. First Robotics has provided this weekend's results as well as honored Kennedy High School with two awards. 

Regan Elementary School is Named School of Distinction

WATERBURY- Regan Elementary School has been named a “School of Distinction'' for the 2022-23 school year by the Connecticut State Department of Education. The school of distinction recognition is given to schools in the top 10 percent of the state for their performance and/or growth as measured by the Connecticut Next Generation Accountability System. Waterbury is a member of District Reference Group (DRG) I, which includes: Bridgeport, Hartford, New Britain, New Haven, New London, Waterbury, and Windham districts. There are approximately 170 public schools in DRG I. 

Waterbury Public Schools Will Expand Maloney Interdistrict Magnet School to Serve 6th Grade

 

WATERBURY- Waterbury Public Schools is pleased to announce the 2023-2024 school year at Maloney Interdistrict Magnet School will expand and serve 6th grade students. Maloney Interdistrict Magnet School is currently a Pre-K through grade five school with 628 total students. Students attending Maloney reside in Waterbury and surrounding towns: Thomaston, Plymouth, and Wolcott.

Wilson Elementary School Staff and Community,

It is my pleasure to announce Mrs. Dana Coelho as the Interim Principal for Wilson Elementary for the 2022-23 school year. Dr. Jennifer Rosser has been named Principal on Special Assignment for Crosby High School. During this time of transition, the principal position for Wilson will be advertised and interviews for a Principal will be forthcoming. Interim Vice Principal for Wilson is Mr. Shea Moriarty.

Mrs. Coelho has served as Supervising Vice Principal at Wilson for several years and has accepted the role as Interim Principal in preparation for the upcoming school year.
Mr. Moriarty served as a teacher and athletic director at Duggan Elementary School with an excellent track record for teaching and learning and connecting with students.

Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Coelho and Mr. Moriarty in their new positions and as they work collectively to support teachers, students and the Wilson community in Waterbury Public Schools.
